The Tired Iron is Coming to Downtown and it will be bigger and better than ever! February 27 and 28, 2010 More events! Lower Entry Fee! More Fun!
It's back and it's going to be the best Tired Iron ever! The Tired Iron is moving to downtown Fairbanks. Mark the last weekend of February on your calendar. This year's events will include six snowmachine events including the new Wired Iron (for the youngsters) and the new Wet Iron, to allow mid-to-late 70's liquid-cooled sleds to compete in their own event. We've had great support from the City of Fairbanks and the Downtown Association and we are looking forward to a truly memorable event. Saturday, February 27, will feature the Wired Iron, Jurassic Classic, the finish of the Iron Dog Snowmachine race, and the all new and expanded Radar Runs. Sunday's events include the premier event, the Tired Iron Classic, followed by the new Wet Iron, and finishes off with the popular Tired Iron Fun Run. These events begin on the Chena River near the Cushman Street bridge, and depart upriver, to the halfway turnaround just above the Fort Wainwright bridge.
The Jurassic Classic will be a great spectator event this year, with fantastic viewing areas along the banks of the Chena River. So tell Gramps to get some fresh gas in that old relic. It's time to show all of Fairbanks, "The OLDER you GET.. the FASTER you IS!" This will be the biggest snowmachine weekend event in the history of Fairbanks so spread the word, and come be a part of it! For race details, google maps, parking info, downloadable entry fees, and lots more, visit www.fairbankstirediron.org. The Presbyterian Hospitality House (PHH) is once again our featured charity for the event. Proceeds from the 2010 Tired Iron will help the PHH turn around the lives of homeless youth in Fairbanks, as well as many other great projects.
We are always looking for additional volunteers, so if you want to help make the event even better, please contact us to get on our volunteer list.
